Tai Chi for Arthritis was created by the Tai Chi for Health Institute and is recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The intervention is an evidence-based falls prevention exercise program that improves muscle strength, flexibility, balance and mobility while reducing joint pain and stiffness. Additional benefits include improved relaxation, vitality, posture and immunity. Medical studies have shown the program to relieve pain in arthritis patients, prevent falls in older adults and improve overall health.


  • Small group workshop
  • 8 to 16 sessions
  • One hour per session
  • Participants are physically active for the entire class


  • Community settings such as senior centers, community centers or a local medical facility


  • This intervention is recommended for older adults at risk of falls or comorbidities
